HERSHEY, Pa. – Nick Bybel kept his winning streak intact, but the Bucknell men's tennis team fell 4-1 to Colgate in a Patriot League match at the Hershey Racquet Club on Sunday. It was the second league match in as many days for the Bison, who dropped to 10-10 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Bybel was a winner at No. 1 singles, beating Jacob Daugherty in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. He has won each of his past nine matches to run his overall record to 20-7 and his spring record to 13-3.
Colgate won matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, and at No. 2, 3 and 4 singles. Bucknell's Max Kane and Timber Erskine were tied 5-5 in their match at No. 3 doubles, but didn't finish once the team point was clinched.
Bucknell also lost to Colgate during the regular season last year, but bounced back with a 4-0 win over the Raiders in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Tournament.
Colgate improved to 12-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference. The Raiders' other league win came over Holy Cross, while their losses came to Boston University and Lehigh.
The Bison will play a pair of non-conference matches at home on Thursday. They will host Morgan State at 1 p.m. and Queens 5:30 p.m.
