BOSTON, Mass. – Bucknell women's track and field junior Sarah Chandler and sophomore Christine Bendzinski each set a new school record Sunday on the final day of the ECAC Championships at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.
Chandler earned All-East status in the 1,000-meter, finishing third with a time of 2:46.21. Her time beats the previous mark set by Hana Casalnova in 2013 (2:49.81).
Bendzinski received All-East accolades in the 3,000, taking eighth out of 29 with a time of 9:39.92. Her time shaved seven seconds off the previous set by Gabi Czaja in 1985 (9:46.27). Czaja also had her record in the 5,000 broken by junior Kate Scott on Saturday.
After qualifying for the 4x400 relay finals, the team of Allison Sharkey, Jess Bridle, Laura Papili and Jen Silvestri earned All-East accolades with a fifth place finish. The quartet completed the race in 3:43.03, which is the second-fastest time in school annals. Bridle anchored with a 53.0 split.
“It was a fantastic day,” says head coach Kevin Donner. “Two individual school records in the 1k and 3k from Chandler and Bendzinski and the 4x400 team ran incredible. Bridle anchored in 53.0, which is one of the fastest 400 splits in school history. This gives us great momentum going into outdoors.”
