YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – After setting the school-record in the 400m at the Gulden Invitational, Bucknell women's track and field senior Jess Bridle topped her mark on the final day of competition at the Youngstown State National Invite on Saturday. Bridle beat out a field of 48 runners, earning the top spot with a time of 55.33.
Bridle was one of four individual winners on the day, totaling five individual titles for the two-day meet.
“It was an overall great meet for our women,” says head coach Kevin Donner. “I was especially pleased to see some our depth people step up and solidify our league team. The throwers came up big as well as some of our mid-distance runners.”
Sophomore Emma Harris won the 800m title, beating out 59 runners with a time of 2:15.51. Junior Seline Tan-Torres was the runner up in the event, crossing the line in 2:16.18.
Senior Sarah Chandler took the top spot in the mile, finishing the event with an ECAC-qualifying time of 4:58.56. Her time is now the eighth-fastest effort in school history.
In a field of 36 runners, sophomore Christine Bendzinski took first in the 3000m, crossing the line in 9:52.75. Her time is a new personal-best, and is the fifth-fastest mark in program history.
In the shot put, senior Sophia Nnadi was the runner-up with a heave of 47-10. Her heave is a personal-best, and was 3/4 short of breaking the program record.
Several Bison finished second in their respective events, including juniors Laura Papili (500m) and Kathleen Fitzgerald (1000m).
