LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's soccer team has just three games remaining on its non-conference schedule, and two of them come this weekend when the Bison host Iona at 4 p.m. on Friday and travel to No. 15 Ohio State for a noon match on Sunday. Friday's contest will broadcast on the Patriot League Network while Sunday's match will broadcast on the Big Ten Network Plus.
Friday's game against Iona will be the first part of a soccer doubleheader at Emmitt Field. The Bison men will entertain Saint Francis (Pa.) at 7 p.m.
The Bison stand at 3-2-1 overall, following a pair of victories against Mount St. Mary's and Saint Francis (Pa.) last weekend. In the team's 2-0 win at Mount St. Mary's, Madison Loos and Kendall Ham each scored in the final 35 minutes of the contest. Ham found the back of the net again in Bucknell's 3-0 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday. Lauren Dandie and Shelby Roberts each scored their first collegiate goals in the match.
Though the Bison put together back-to-back multi-goal performances, credit the Bucknell back line for the pair of shutouts. The defense allowed just three shots on goal all weekend, led by the senior co-captain Dandie, who earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Iona comes into Friday's match 1-5 overall. The Gaels have dropped their last three games, including a 1-0 loss against Towson on Sept. 6. Goalkeeper Lauren Ferris recorded five saves in the contest. Iona's lone win of the season came in a 3-0 decision over Wagner. Brianna Hernandez, Julia Campagna and Charlotte Stuart each scored in the victory.
Friday's game will mark just the third meeting in the all-time series between the two squads. Bucknell has won the previous two meetings, including a 2-1 victory in Lewisburg in 2010.
No. 15 Ohio State comes into Sunday's contest following its home match against No. 8 West Virginia on Friday. The Buckeyes stand at 4-0-1 overall following a 3-1 victory over Florida International last Friday. Nichelle Prince and Sammy Edwards each scored in the match. Prince is the team's top point-getter, tallying three goals and three assists for nine points. Nikki Walts is second on the team, recording two goals and two assists for six points. Sunday's contest will mark the first ever meeting between the two programs.
Following this weekend, the Bison return to action on Sept. 20 to open up conference play at Boston University. Bucknell wraps up its non-conference slate on Sept. 22 at Duquesne.
