LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's soccer team has won two-straight contests following a pair of shutouts last weekend against Mount St. Mary's and Saint Francis (Pa.). Anchoring the Bucknell back line was senior co-captain Lauren Dandie, who has been named Corvias Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week.
The Fullerton, Calif., native played in all 90 minutes of the team's 2-0 victory at the Mount last Friday. The Bucknell defense limited Mount St. Mary's to just five total shots with only two on frame in the contest.
The Bison followed up their performance with a 3-0 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday. The back line allowed just four shots, with only one on goal.
Dandie not only helped with her defensive presence, but got in on the scoring as well. Dandie recorded her first collegiate goal to give the Bison a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute on a header off a corner kick from Karli Cirovski.
Dandie has appeared and started in 60 games in a Bison uniform. She has been a team captain for the past two seasons and has contributed to 16 shutouts during her time in Lewisburg.
Bucknell has now posted three shutouts through six games this season. This is Dandie's second time earning the nod and the second women's soccer player to earn a Patriot League honor this year.
The Bison stand at 3-2-1 overall this season, and return to action on Sept. 11 to host Iona, followed by a trip to No. 15 Ohio State on Sunday.
