HELLERTOWN, Pa. -- Peter Scialabba fired a 1-over-par 72, Daniel Levin turned in his second top-10 finish in 48 hours, and the Bucknell men's golf team enjoyed a strong final round Monday at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Lafayette at Silver Creek CC.
Finally playing in some nice weather after a brutal stretch this spring, the Bison posted a 294 team score, one stroke behind Lehigh for the low round of the day. That was also the squad's second-lowest round of the season, trailing only a 290 at the Binghamton Invitational in the fall.
Bucknell moved up five spots and finished in sixth place with a 603 total. St. Peter's took the team title with a 591 composite, one better than runner-up Lehigh and three in front of Central Connecticut.
Levin posted his second consecutive 73 and finished in a five-way tie for fifth place in the individual standings. He was just three shots behind medalist Matt Hills of Central Connecticut. Levin placed T-8th at the 36-hole Met Intercollegiate on Saturday, and he now has three top-10 finishes in 2014-15. The T-5th is the best of his career.
Scialabba's 72 was his low round of the spring, and it vaulted him into the top 20 at T-18th. D.J. Magee also finished strong with a 73, and C.J. Zachary and Nick Geissler both closed with 76s.
Playing as individuals, J.B. Thompson shot 83 and Jack Gregor 86.
The Bison will have one more tournament prior to the Patriot League Championship. They will be at the Saint Francis Invitational on Apr. 13-14.
