Six Women's Rowing Boats Compete in Finals at Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (Mercer Lake) – Six Bucknell boats competed at the Knecht Cup and all six made finals appearances Sunday. The Bison had two boats race in grand finals, while four others rowed in petite finals as the two-day event came to a close. Three Bucknell crews won their petite finals, while another finished second.
The Bison second varsity eight and “A” novice eight advanced to their grand finals. The second varsity eight placed second in its heat on Saturday and was second in its semifinal on Sunday morning. The boat then placed sixth in the grand final, just .13 behind fifth-place Drexel.
Two novice eight boats were in action on Sunday and the top crew made it to the grand final and placed fourth after winning its heat. The other Bison novice eight boat was third in its heat and it captured first in the petite final.
The varsity eight, varsity four and second varsity four all raced in petite finals. The varsity eight won its heat on Saturday and then placed third in Sunday morning's semifinal. The Bison then took second in the petite final behind only Kansas.
The varsity four matched the novice eight with a first-place showing in its petite final after placing fourth in both Saturday's heat and Sunday's semifinal.
The second varsity four raced just twice this weekend, finishing fourth in Saturday's heat and making it three Bucknell boats to win petite finals on Sunday.
The Bison will be back in action next weekend at the two-day Clemson Invitational.
