Bison V8 and 2V8 Have Success on First Day of Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. (Lake Hartwell) – The Bucknell women's rowing program sent its varsity eight and second varsity eight boats to compete at this weekend's competitive Clemson Invitational. The two-day, three-session event features more than 20 total teams, including nine that were ranked in the final CRCA poll of 2014.
Bucknell's varsity eight had a tremendous showing on Saturday, placing fifth in both of its races. The Bison opened the day by finishing one spot ahead of Minnesota, which is ranked 20th nationally in this week's CRCA poll. Bucknell then finished ahead of both Tennessee and Penn in its evening race. It was the second victory over Penn in program history, following a win over the Quakers in 2013.
The second varsity eight was seventh in both of its races, but narrowed its gap on sixth-place Tennessee by nearly nine seconds from the morning race to the evening competition.
“The women are excited to be here and are doing their best to make the most of the opportunity to race some of the best crews in the country,” praised Bison head coach Stephen Kish.
The Clemson Invitational will wrap up Sunday morning. The Bison varsity eight is schedule to race at 8 a.m., while the second varsity eight will take the water for an 8:24 a.m. race.
