Jessee Qualifies for ECACs as Women's Track and Field Competes at Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Senior Katie Jessee led the Bucknell effort on the first day of competition at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational on Friday, becoming the latest Bison athlete to qualify for the ECAC Championships.
Jessee took 30th out of 53 against a tough field of runners in the 5,000m. She finished in 17:23.01 in her first time running the event this season. She joins teammate Kate Scott as an ECAC qualifier in the event.
Competition at the Meyo Invitational picks back up on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Seven Bison Finish in Top Five at Youngstown State
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Seven members of the Bucknell women's track and field team turned in top-five performances on the first day of the Youngstown State National Invite on Friday, led by a runner-up finish from senior Morgan Roche.
Roche's second-place run came in the 1,000m, where she finished behind former Bucknell runner Hana Casalnova. Roche crossed the line in 2:59.91, while Casalnova, who was competing unattached, won in 2:58.22. Casalnova, a 2014 graduate, is the current Bucknell record holder in the event with a time of 2:49.81. Freshman Emma Cousins and sophomore Kathleen Fitzgerald also competed in the event on Friday, taking fourth and fifth, respectively.
The Bison had a good showing in the 5,000-meter run, placing four runners in the top 10 out of 32 participants. Senior Alison Lockwood led the way in fourth, senior Zoe Gaston was fifth, junior Meghan Carroll was seventh, and senior Kate VanNess took ninth.
Senior Rebekka Vuojolainen and freshman Jenna Calandro tied for fourth in the pole vault, both clearing 10-10 on their second attempt. Freshman Emma Harris rounded out the top-five finishers for the Bison, taking fourth out of 29 in the 500m.
