Softball Splits Games with Cornell and Brown on Saturday

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Bucknell softball ran its winning streak to four games with a 9-0 win over Cornell on Saturday, before dropping a 10-6 verdict to Brown in the second game of the day. The Bison are 2-1 at the event with one game to play and are 9-6 on the season.
Jacee Almond led Bucknell's offensive attack with a single and a home run, her first of the season and the eighth of her career. Kristen Zahn had the Bison's only other hit for extra bases with a three-run double. Christina Martinez singled and walked twice, while Cydnee Sanders, Meghan Kovac and Madeline Minneci all singled once.
Amanda Fazio pitched all four innings for the Bison, improving to 5-2 on the season. She recorded the shutout while giving up just four hits and striking out three batters.
Bucknell's four-game winning streak came to an end with the 10-6 loss to Brown later in the day. It was the second winning streak of at least four games for the Bison this season.
The Bison will wrap up their trip with a game against Cornell on Sunday at 11 a.m.
