Softball Scores in Every Inning in 11-6 Win Over Brown

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The entire Bucknell lineup contributed as the Bison rolled to an 11-6 win over Brown on Friday night. It was the first of four games in Myrtle Beach this weekend for the Bison, who improved to 8-5 with their third straight win.
Eight players had hits in the win for Bucknell, led by Erin Cox and Cydnee Sanders, who each had a double and two singles. The Bison had five extra-base hits, including a home run by Kristen Zahn, a triple by Kamille Larrabee and a double by Jacee Almond. Madeline Minneci finished with two singles, while Amanda Fazio and Lauren Swindell had one hit apiece.
Bucknell trailed 3-2 after the first inning and 5-3 after the second. Larrabee tied the game with an RBI triple, scoring Cox, and scored on a throwing error to give the Bison a 6-5 lead after three innings.
The Bison upped their lead to 8-5 in the fourth inning, scoring a pair of runs with two outs. Sanders roped a double and then scored on Zahn's homer. They went on to score in every inning, adding one run in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Dana Nielsen pitched a solid game to improve to 2-1 on the season. She entered the game with two outs and the bases loaded in the first inning and got the Bison out of a jam with a groundout. She went on to give up three runs, two of which were earned, in 6 1/3 innings of work. She struck out seven batters.
The Bison are now a perfect 5-0 when leading after four innings and 7-0 when leading after the fifth.
Bucknell has two games on the schedule on Saturday. The Bison will play Cornell at 1:30 p.m. and take on Brown for a second time at 5:30 p.m.
