Bybel Advances with Three-Set Win at All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – Bucknell's Nick Bybel is off to a great start at the ITA All-American Men's Tennis Championships. The Bison senior opened play in the Qualifying Draw with a three-set win over New Mexico's Hayden Sabatka on Monday.
Bybel, making his third appearance at the ITA event, defeated the Lobos player by scores of 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Sabatka is a former Mountain West Freshman of the Year winner and posted a win over the 37th-ranked player in the nation last season.
Bybel will play Miami's Christian Langmo in the second round on Tuesday. Langmo advanced with a win over 82nd-ranked Ricardo Jorge of Mississippi. Bybel is currently ranked 95th in the nation.
With two more wins, Bybel would qualify for the Main Draw. This is his first year competing in the Qualifying Draw after two years of starting in the Pre-Qualifying Draw. All players who make it to the quarterfinals of the Main Draw receive an automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Collegiate Championships in November.
