UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Bucknell women's track and field team had two athletes crack the program's top 10 list in their respective events Saturday at the Penn State Relays. Freshman Lauren Hudson made her first appearance in the team's record books in the high jump, while freshman Efe Agege makes her debut on the list in the triple jump.
Hudson took fifth out of 15 competitors in the high jump, clearing 5-5 ¾, good enough for fourth all-time at Bucknell. Agege was sixth out of 14 in the triple jump and now ranks seventh in program history with a distance of 38-0 ¼.
"I was very pleased with the results of both genders," Bucknell head coach Kevin Donner said. "We were a bit rusty coming off the holiday break which was expected, especially in the technical events, but I was pleased with how we competed against the very good competition. Training will be critical these next two weeks, and we expect a huge improvement at the Gulden Invitational."
Sophomore Grace Loh was the top Bucknell placer on the day. She was the runner-up in the 1,000-meter run, crossing the line in 3:02.79. Senior Morgan Roche and sophomore Kathleen Fitzgerald were right behind her in third and fourth out of 14 runners.
The Bison had two runners finish in the top five in the 5,000-meter run as senior Becky Snelson took fourth in 10:24.25 and junior Meghan Carroll was fifth in 10:25.78. Senior Kate Scott added another successful performance for the distance runners, taking fifth in the mile.
Senior Kim Nagotko, who set a school record in the 300-meter dash at the Bison Open, was fifth out of 34 runners in the 200-meter dash (25.36). She took eighth out of 21 athletes in the 60-meter dash.
Other notable performances for Bucknell included seventh-place finishes by sophomore Kim Lapszynski (long jump) and Abigail Brundage (shot put), and a tie for eighth in the pole vault by teammates in freshman Jenna Calandro and senior Yanelis Mestre.
Bucknell will have a two-week break before it returns to action with another home meet, the Gulden Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24.
