Women's Rowing Wins Six Races vs. Temple and Drexel

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Schuylkill River) – One week after opening the spring season with a strong showing at the Murphy Cup, the Bucknell women's rowing team faced Temple and Drexel on Saturday. The Bison squared off with the Owls in the morning and finished first in four of the six races. They then took on the Dragons in the afternoon and captured two of the five races.
Bucknell's second varsity eight was the squad's only double winner, defeating both Temple and Drexel. The Bison varsity eight, lightweight four and novice eight were also victorious against the Owls, while the second novice eight joined the second varsity eight in the winner's circle opposite the Dragons.
The second varsity eight won its two races by more than 38 seconds total.
Bucknell will return to action next weekend at the two-day Knecht Cup on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. The Bison had six boats advance to the finals at the event last year with three boats posting top-two finishes, including the first-place varsity eight.
