Bison Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight Post Second-Place Finishes at Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (Mercer Lake) – Six of Bucknell's eight boats that opened competition at this weekend's Knecht Cup advanced to Sunday's finals with the Bison varsity eight and second varsity eight taking home silver medals in their respective Grand Finals.
For the varsity eight, this is its third consecutive top-two showing at the Knecht Cup, while the second varsity eight improved on last year's finish by three spots.
The Bucknell freshman eight won the Petite Final, crossing the finish line nearly 4.5 seconds ahead of runner-up Villanova.
The varsity four registered a second-place showing in its Third Level Final, beating Alabama, North Carolina, West Virginia and Connecticut.
The Bison lightweights also had success on Sunday as the lightweight four finished third and the lightweight eight was fourth, just .01 behind third-place Wisconsin, the team that finished immediately ahead of Bucknell at the 2013 IRA National Championship Regatta.
The Bison will host their only home event of the season next Saturday, April 19, when they welcome George Mason and West Virginia to the Susquehanna River. Start time is 11 a.m.
