FARMVILLE, Va. -- A 1-under-par 71 by Schuyler Stitzer highlighted the opening day of the Manor Intercollegiate for the Bucknell men's golf team. The Bison opened with a 314 team score, but then bounced back in the afternoon round with a 300. Bucknell is in ninth place with 18 holes still to come on Sunday.
Peter Scialabba was the low Bison in the opening round with a 76, while Stitzer and Bernard both shot 78. Bucknell was much-improved in round two, with Stitzer's 71 and Dan Bernard's 1-over 73 leading the way. Nick Geissler added a 77 and Scialabba 79 to account for the 300 team total, which was the fourth-best in the 10-team field.
George Mason shot 301-299 for a 36-hole total of 600, and that is good for the team lead by a single stroke over Drexel. Tournament host Longwood is in third place at 602.
Longwood's Dylan Jensen is 2-under for the tournament after rounds of 72-70. He leads by one shot over Zack Lauzon of George Mason.
The third and final round is slated for Saturday morning.
