FARMVILLE, Va. -- Schuyler Stitzer fired a 2-under-par 70, his second consecutive sub-par round, to help the Bucknell men's golf team to a 301 team score in the final round of the Manor Intercollegiate on Saturday. The Bison moved up two spots to a seventh-place finish, while Stitzer placed fourth individually with a 3-over 219 for 54 holes.
Stitzer shot 78-71-70 on the 7200-yard Manor GC. He finished five shots behind medalist Dylan Jensen of tournament host Longwood. Max McKay of Liberty took second at +1, while Josh Waters of LIU was third at +2.
Dan Bernard followed with a 76, putting him in a tie for 22nd place at 227. Billy Wright had his best round of the tournament with a 77, Peter Scialabba posted a 78, and Nick Geissler shot 83.
The Bison fell behind with an opening-round 314, but their 300-301 finish was the fourth-best in the 10-team field. Saturday's 301 was only two shots off the best score of the day, posted by Delaware and St. Bonaventure.
George Mason totaled 901 and edged out Drexel by one shot for the team title. Longwood was third at 904.
Bucknell returns to action next weekend at the Navy Invitational, which serves as a final tuneup before the Patriot League Championship. The league championship will be held Apr. 27-28 at Saucon Valley CC.
