BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Carli Sukonik and Julie McBrien combined for 11 goals to lead Lehigh to a 14-8 victory over Bucknell in Patriot League women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
Emily Kookogey recorded a pair of goals and Ryan Wenk had a goal and an assist for the Bison (1-8, 0-3 PL). Katelyn Miller, Sam Rickels, Sophie Kleinert, Cori Thielemann and Emily Becker also scored goals for Bucknell.
Sukonik scored six times and McBrien added five more for the Mountain Hawks, who are now 3-7, 1-2. Megan Paytas handed out three assists.
After Kleinert put Bucknell on the board first, Lehigh scored the next five, with three coming from Sukonik and two from McBrien. Bucknell then scored three goals in a span of 1:21 to pull within 5-4. Koogogey scored twice and Rickels once in that span.
McBrien's goal 2:40 before intermission made it a 7-5 game, and Nicole Isdaner tacked on the first goal of the second period to give the Mountain Hawks an 8-5 lead. Bucknell twice pulled within two, but another Lehigh 5-0 run sealed it.
Bucknell outshot Lehigh 24-23 and both teams won 12 draws. Lehigh received 12 saves from Alex Fitzpatrick, while Caroline O'Neill had six for Bucknell.
Adrienne Wendling led the Bison with four ground alls and two caused turnovers. Rickels had a team-high four draw controls.
The Bison are back in action on Tuesday against Duquesne at Graham Field at 4 p.m.
