Bucknell Women's Tennis Knocked Out by Navy in Patriot League Tournament Semifinals, 4-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team (6-17) went toe-to-toe with Navy (20-2) in the Patriot League Tournament Saturday morning but fell to the Midshipmen by the score of 4-0. The No. 5 seed Bucknell entered the semifinal match after defeating No. 4 Lehigh 4-0 Friday morning and No. 1 seed Navy was well-rested after having a first-round bye.
In doubles the Bison fought in three back-and-forth matches against the Midshipmen but were unable to earn another win outside of the No. 2 flight. Lydia Colvin and Courtney Casey managed to defeat Erin Snook and Noelle Kaufmann at the No. 2 position by the score of 8-6. Colvin and Casey also beat the Navy duo in the regular-season match by the same score.
Dumitrita Iepuras and Elizabeth Morgan were defeated 8-5 by Navy's Darien Sears and Dye Das. The Navy partners also won the No. 3 doubles match against the Bison's Iepuras and Jen Bush earlier in the season.
At No. 1 doubles, Bison duo Elena Vidrascu and Daria Tuzhikova battled Emani Decquir and Stefanie Ton in what would be the crucial match for Navy's team doubles point. Decquir and Ton outlasted Vidrascu and Tuzhikova taking the two-hour match, 9-7.
Navy carried the momentum into singles action and added to its lead after Snook won a 6-1, 6-1 contest over Tuzhikova at No. 4 singles, Decquir won a 6-0, 6-3 bout over Vidrascu at No. 2 singles and Gabby Winter earned a 6-2, 6-1 match over Casey at the No. 5 slot.
The Mids were up a set at Nos. 1, 3 and 6 singles when the victory was clinched.
This is the second straight year that the Bison have been knocked out of tournament play by the Mids. Navy will advance to face No. 2 Army in a repeat of last year's final.
Bucknell will have one more match to play when it travels to Bloomsburg for its season finale on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
