Seniors Iepuras, Casey Go Undefeated in Bison Women's Tennis' 6-3 Season-Finale Win at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's tennis finished its 2011-12 season on a high note, defeating Bloomsburg 6-3 on Wednesday evening. Fittingly, seniors Courtney Casey and Dumitrita Iepuras led the Bison with two wins apiece as the Orange and Blue close out the campaign at 7-17.
Iepuras and doubles partner Elizabeth Morgan were the first to put a notch in the wins category against Bloomsburg. Playing at the No. 3 slot, the duo defeated Natalie Greenholt and Nicole Slagle 8-3. Iepuras then went on to win 6-1, 6-3 over Michelle Perez at No. 1 singles.
Iepuras finishes her career tied for sixth all-time at Bucknell in singles victory, coming in at 73-46. She is also 12th in doubles victories at 43-48 and eighth in combined wins with an all-time record of 117-94. She is one of just 10 Bison in history to register more than 100 career victories.
Casey also went out with a pair of wins on Wednesday, giving Bucknell its second doubles decision. Along with Lydia Colvin, she defeated Danielle Walsh and Erin Reitenauer by a score of 8-4. Casey's singles win came quickly at 6-0, 6-1 over Greenholt.
Like her classmate, Casey moved up the record lists in her final match with Bucknell. She is now 19th in singles wins (37-34), 21st in doubles wins (33-41) and 18th in combined wins (70-75).
With the win at No. 2, Colvin secured her spot as Bucknell's wins leader in doubles. The freshman wrapped up her rookie campaign 13-13 overall and 11-10 in the spring.
Also gathering wins for Bucknell were Elena Vidrascu and Christie Schneider in singles. Vidrascu allowed just one game to Emily Palko in the entire match, winning at No. 2 by a score of 6-1, 6-0. Schneider's bout with Slagle was nearly as quick as the Bison freshman came out on top 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
