MALVERN, Pa. -- Temperatures in the 40s and winds gusting over 30 miles per hour served as the backdrop for 36 holes of golf on day one of Villanova's Wildcat Invitational on Monday, and Bucknell posted rounds of 320 and 318 to stand in 11th place. Schuyler Stitzer's second-round 76 was the team's best of the day, and he leads the squad with a 36-hole total of 157.
Will Bachman's 78 was the team-low total in round one, and Bachman followed it up with an 82. Jon Hartman shot 82-79 in his spring debut. Dan Bernard posted a pair of 81s, and Thomas Walter shot 80-86 on a very tough scoring day at White Manor CC.
Ohio State put together rounds of 300 and 302 for a total of 602. The Buckeyes have a one-shot lead over Delaware, while St. John's is just three shots back at 605.
Matthew Turner of Ohio State, playing as an individual, shot 72-68 to claim the individual lead. Steve Skurla of Villanova had the low score of the day with a second-round 67, and he is four shots behind Turner at 144 total.
