Bison Women's Lacrosse Hosts George Washington Saturday, Presbyterian Monday

LEWISBURG, Pa. --The Bucknell women's lacrosse team is back home for a pair of games against first-time opponents over the next few days. On Saturday at 1 p.m., the Bison host George Washington, and then on Monday at 5 p.m., Presbyterian will visit Graham Field.
The Bison fell to 0-4 on the young season with a tough 13-12 loss to Manhattan last Saturday. Bucknell nearly made up a big early deficit with a run late in the game, but fell just a goal short. Sophomore midfielder Katelyn Miller had a big game with four goals, six draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Sophomore Madison Hurwitz and freshman Arriana Sajjad added two goals apiece for the young Bison squad.
For the season, Sajjad leads the team in goals with six, while Miller and Hurwitz have five apiece. Freshman Emily Kookogey has three goals and one assist. Junior Adrienne Wendling leads the team in draw controls with 12.
George Washington is off to a 3-1 start in 2012. After routing Howard 22-5 to open the season, GW fell 15-10 at Drexel before bounding back with wins over Long Island (20-6) and George Mason (11-6).
Megan Seidman scored a team-high four goals, including the 100th of her career, in the Colonials' most recent win over George Mason. Seidman leads the team with 11 goals this season and also has seven assists. Sarah Phillips is the leading point-producer with 21, coming on 10 goals and 11 assists. Jess Hicks and Mackenzie Jones have each started two games in goal. Hicks leads the way with a .400 save percentage and a 7.21 goals-against average. GW has dominated draws so far winning 66 compared to its opponents' 35.
Presbyterian faces off against Regis on Friday afternoon before traveling to Lewisburg for Monday's game. After posting a 5-13 record last season, the Blue Hose opened the 2012 campaign with losses to Virginia Tech (21-4) and Cincinnati (20-16).
Through two games, Presbyterian's top scorer was Catherine Ellis with five goals and an assist, while Samantha MacCurdy, Kirstin Stenoien, Lauren Lefeber and Katie Prisco had three goals apiece. Three different Blue Hose goalies combined for 17 saves with 41 goals conceded.
Following these two home games, Bucknell begins Patriot League play on Saturday, March 10 at Navy at noon.
