Bucknell Women's Tennis Takes 7-0 Hit at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. - Bucknell women's tennis suffered its second consecutive sweep of the weekend, falling 7-0 to Cornell at the Reis Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The Big Red won every match in straight sets, dropping the Bison's record to 2-6.
Lauren Rottkamp (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) challenged Cornell the most. The senior lost the first set 6-1 and drew closer in the second. The Big Red's Ruxandra Dumitrescu still came away with a 7-5 victory, however.
Only Lauren Lucido (Woodstock, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) won more than two sets in her singles match. The senior, who was playing at No. 1 against Christine Ordway, fell 6-3, 6-1.
Doubles did not go in Bucknell's favor, getting the Bison off on the wrong foot. Dumitrita Iepuras (Chisinau, Moldova/Germantown Friends School) and Daria Tuzhikova (Minsk, Belarus/Gymnasium No. 7) lost 8-2 to Ordway and Ryann Young, giving Bucknell its closest decision through the first portion of play.
Bucknell will be back in action next week when it heads to Orlando, Fla., for a string of matches. The Bison will face South Dakota State, Marist, North Dakota and Drake March 14-18.
