Bison Women's Lacrosse Hosts Drexel on Sunday

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell tries to stop a run of three straight losses on Sunday afternoon when Drexel comes to town for a non-league game. The contest starts at noon at Graham Field.
The last time the Bison played at home they won a thriller over Davidson on Paige Cobbs' last-second goal. But since then the Orange & Blue have dropped consecutive road games to Wagner, Robert Morris and Columbia.
Drexel comes in with a 5-1 record while outscoring foes 70-45. The Dragons' only loss came at the hands of No. 3 Penn, while their wins are against Virginia Tech, American, George Washington, Saint Joseph's and Long Island.
Series Notes:
• Bucknell and Drexel have met every season since 1983, and the Dragons own a 19-8 series lead.
• Drexel has won each of the last eight meetings after the Bison won five straight from 1997-2001.
• Last season in Philadelphia, the Dragons ran out to a 9-1 lead and prevailed 13-8 behind five goals from Charlotte Wood. Becca Devine and Julia Braun scored two goals apiece for Bucknell.
Bison Briefs:
• Julia Braun leads the team in most statistical categories this season. Her 13 goals, 14 points, 12 ground balls, and 22 draw controls are all team highs. Braun is on a run of three straight hat tricks, as she scored four goals at Wagner and three each against Robert Morris and Columbia.
• Michelle Milot is the team's No. 2 scorer with 10 points on seven goals and three assists. Milot scored three goals in the Wagner game, and her three assists lead the team.
• Freshman Ryan Wenk is the team leader in caused turnovers with seven, one ahead of Julia Braun. Wenk also has a couple of goals on the season. Paige Cobbs is the top freshman goal-scorer with four.
• Bucknell has been outscored 60-37 (41-15 in the first half) on the season, despite doing very well on draw controls so far. The Bison have outdrawn foes 59-45, but they have committed 15 more turnovers than their opponents.
• Alyssa DeLorenz, the reigning Patriot League Goalie of the Year, has 58 saves in five games, including a career-high 18 against Columbia on Wednesday.
Scouting Drexel:
• The 5-1 Dragons are coming off an 18-4 rout of Long Island. Becca Drylie-Perkins led the Dragons with two goals and three assists, while Nicole Musto added a goal and three assists. Katie Lawson added to her conference-leading goal total with four more.
• Lawson already has 22 goals and 26 points through six games. Charlotte Wood has 12 goals and Drylie-Perkins has eight goals and six assists for the Dragons, who are averaging 11.7 goals per game.
• Drexel has received goals from 16 different players and points from 17.
• Whitney Johnson has made all six starts in goal and has a solid .560 save percentage and 8.19 goals-against average. She is averaging 7.8 saves per game.
Next Up:
After Sunday's game, the Bison open Patriot League play next Friday night against Lehigh at home. A year ago, Bucknell won at Lehigh 12-11 on Bonnie Buechel's goal in sudden-death overtime.
