MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Despite three goals and an assist from midfielder Julia Braun (Tomkins Cove, N.Y./North Rockland), the Bucknell women's lacrosse team fell 10-8 at Robert Morris on Sunday afternoon. Becca Devine (Arlington, Va./St. Stephen's and St. Agnes) added two goals and an assist for the Bison, who fell to 1-3 on the season.
Courtney Sicinski led Robert Morris (1-1) with four goals, while Tara Southworth handed out three assists.
Bucknell jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on free-position goals by Michelle Milot (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) and Paige Cobbs (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's), but the Colonials outscored the Bison 6-0 in the final 17:48 of the first half to take a 6-2 lead into intermission.
Just one minute into the second half Devine scored off a feed from Braun, starting a three-goal Bucknell run to start the period. Freshman Ryan Wenk (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) scored her first collegiate goal, then Braun's tally with 20:35 to play made it a 6-5 game.
But Robert Morris scored the next four in a row to put the game away. Sicinski started and finished the run, with her goal with 6:05 to play giving her team a commanding 10-5 lead. Bucknell tossed in three goals in the final 5:04, two by Braun.
Braun, who also led the Bison with four draw controls, now has a team-high 10 goals on the season.
Robert Morris outshot Bucknell 26-22 and had a 14-12 edge in ground balls. Alyssa DeLorenz (Garland, Texas/Plano East) finished with 11 saves, while Erica Webb had 10 for the Colonials.
Bucknell will be back in action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Columbia.
