HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Bucknell women's golf team chopped 15 strokes off its first-round score and moved up two spots into seventh place as the Low Country Intercollegiate came to an end on Sunday at Moss Creek GC. The Bison shot 330 in the second and final round, led by an 81 from freshman Kelsey Meybin (Midlothian, Va./Saint Gertrude).
The Bison did not have anyone break 85 in the opening round, but had four players shoot 84 or better on Sunday. In addition to Meybin's 81, Minjoo Lee (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) finished with an 82, Katie Jurenovich (Warren, Ohio/Howland) shot 83 and Brittany Rendell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) carded an 84. Deirdre Moran (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) finished with a 90.
Meybin was the team's low player in both rounds, and her 36-hole total of 166 was good for a T-19th finish.
Led by individual champion Blaire Minter (73-75), Western Carolina captured the team title with a total score of 633. Host Wofford was second at 639, followed by Charleston Southern (643), Longwood (645), Morehead State (666), Gardner-Webb (670), Bucknell (675), Old Dominion (676), South Carolina-Upstate (678), The Citadel (682), Radford (692) and Appalachian State (717).
The Bison will be back in action on March 21-22 at the William & Mary Invitational.
