WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The Bucknell women's golf team opened the First Market Bank Intercollegiate with a round of 347 at Ford's Colony Country Club on Saturday. The Bison, who are tied for 20th place, lost 15 strokes and five places in the standings due to a disqualification.
Sophomore Katie Jurenovich (Warren, Ohio/Howland) led the Bison with an 80 on Saturday. Senior Deirdre Moran (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) shot 84, freshman Minjoo Lee (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) carded an 88 and freshman Brittany Rendell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) finished with a 95. Freshman Kelsey Meybin (Midlothian, Va./Saint Gertrude) also shot an 80, but she was disqualified for a rules infraction, meaning the Bison had to count the 95 instead of the 80.
Alabama opened with a round of 306 to take a five-shot lead over Penn State. Richmond is third at 314, followed by Radford, Charleston Southern and Georgetown at 317.
Alabama' Camilla Lenarth and Charleston Southern's Madison Jeter both shot 74 to take the individual lead. Five others are one shot back.
Round two begins at 10 a.m. Sunday on the Blue Heron course at Ford's Colony.
