WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Led by a 79 from freshman Brittany Rendell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier), the Bucknell women's golf team improved on its first round score by 18 strokes and finished with a 329 at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary.
Rendell epitomized Bucknell's 24-hour improvement, as she followed a first-round 95 with her team-best 79 on Sunday. Katie Jurenovich (Warren, Ohio/Howland) backed up an 80 with a final-round 81, and her 161 total was best on the team and T-30th overall.
Also for Bucknell on Sunday, Minjoo Lee (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) finished with an 83, Kelsey Meybin (Midlothian, Va./Saint Gertrude) shot 86 and Deirdre Moran (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) posted an 88.
Rhea Nair, playing as an individual for Alabama, shot 75-74 to win medalist honors by one shot over Madison Jeter of Charleston Southern and Brianna Malcolmson of Penn State.
Even without counting Nair's score, Alabama cruised to the team title with a 36-hole total of 609 (306-303). Richmond was a distant second at 327, while Bucknell's 676 total was good for 20th place.
The Bison will be back in action on Apr. 5-6 at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic, hosted by Oklahoma.
