Women's Golf Tied for First After First Round of Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Sophia Bardunias and Paige Richter carded 74s to sit one stroke off of the leader as the Bucknell women's golf team is tied for first with Navy after the first round of the Patriot League Championships at the par-72 U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club on Friday.
Bardunias and Richter are both two-over after the first 18 holes of play. Katherine Vice and Nicole Yun are both tied for fifth with a pair of 75s. Lila Smith posted a 78 (+6) and Joelle Johnson carded an 81 (+9) in the round.
Navy's Keira Howard leads the field with a one-over 73. Bardunias and Richter are tied for second with Navy's Vivian Cressman. Yun and Vice are tied with Navy's Emma Tang.
Bucknell's 298 is the second-lowest score in program history for a conference tournament. The Bison fired a 297 at the par-70 Bucknell Golf Club.
Bardunias' first four holes included three bogeys and a birdie for a two-over start. The sophomore finished even for the remaining 14 holes, carding two birdies and two bogeys.
Richter began the round at four-over after eight holes, but the three-time All-Patriot League golfer birdied the ninth and finished the back nine at one-under with a birdie on the 16th.
Yun's three-over 75 included a birdie on the sixth and the 14th, and Vice made birdie on the 15th in her round. Smith carded two birdies on the day with a six-over finish.
Bucknell is back in action for the second round of play at the Patriot League Championships on Saturday. Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Bison teeing off at 9:30 a.m.
