Bison Men's Golf Ties for Ninth at Scotty Duncan Memorial

STANTON, Del. -- Bucknell's five-man contingent produced two 81s and three 82s on Monday in the final round of the Scotty Duncan Memorial at White Clay Creek GC, and the Bison finished in a tie for ninth place in the 15-team field. Bucknell's regular starting lineup was back home taking the week off after producing a win and two second-place finishes over the first three weeks of the season.
After posting a 320 team score in Sunday's opening round, the Bison produced a 326 in difficult scoring conditions in the final round. No team shot better than 302 in the tournament, and the average score for the field was 81.8.
Junior Parker Phillips (Laguna Beach, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal) and sophomore Will Bachman (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) both posted 81s on Monday, while junior Andrew Wallisch (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and freshmen Dan Bernard (Malvern, Pa./Malvern Prep) and Jon Hartman (Essex Fells, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) all shot 82.
Coupled with his opening round 77, Wallish was Bucknell's top finisher (T-21st) with a 159 total.
Host Delaware won the event with a 36-hole total of 606. George Washington was second at 612, followed by Rutgers (617), Wilmington (635) and Iona (637). Bucknell tied for ninth with Fairfield at 646.
Kevin McLister of Delaware shot a 1-over-par 145 to hold off Brendan Barrack of George Washington by three strokes.
The Bison will be back in action on Oct. 10-11 at the Joe Agee Invitational at Colonial Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va.
