Bucknell Women's Track and Field Competes at Red Flash Open

LORETTO, Pa. - The Bucknell women's track and field team took part in the Red Flash Open on the campus of Saint Francis (Pa.), on Saturday. Senior Braidy Shambaugh (Ringoes, N.J./Our Lady of Mercy Acad.) and freshman Laura Cundey (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) recorded first-place outings in the 800- and 1,500-meter runs, respectively. Shambaugh turned in a time of 2 minutes, 17.91 seconds in the 800, while Cundey ran a time of 4:58.58 in the 1,500.
Also in the 800, Andrea Wright (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) placed second with a time of 2:22.44, while sophomore Caroline Strunk (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) posted a time of 2:23.15, which was good for third place. Sophomore Jessica Hibbert (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) and freshman Gabrielle Skovira (Park Ridge, N.J./Park Ridge) finished second and third in the 1,500 with times of 4:58.86 and 4:59.57, respectively.
Freshman Allison Janda (Plymouth, Mich./Salem) finished second in the 400 with a time of 59.46. Freshman Kalle James-Wintjen (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) tallied two third-place showings on Saturday. She ran a time of 13.02 in the 100 and broke the plane at 26.64 in the 200. Senior Kat Allen (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) finished second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.72. The quartet of Cundey, Wright, Shambaugh and sophomore Ashley Behre (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) notched a first-place finish in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:09.44.
Junior Nicole Ayala (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) took second in the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 2 ¼ inches (4.93m), while junior Amanda Mockbee (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) placed third in the discus with a mark of 128.07 (39.20m).
Bucknell will look for its fourth straight league title at the Patriot League Track and Field Championships starting on Friday, May 4, in Bethlehem, Pa.
