
Bucknell Women's Track & Field Finishes Second at the Bucknell Team Challenge

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's senior Melanie Buczko (Butler, Pa./Butler), junior Beverly Rogers (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) and freshman Amy Mantush (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) each picked up first-place finishes as they led the Bison to a second-place team finish at the Bucknell Team Challenge with 131.33 points on Saturday at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. Penn State finished first in the meet with 251 points, while Saint Francis (Pa.) (62.33), Colgate (41), Binghamton (40.33), UMBC (35), Duquesne (30) and Lock Haven (22) rounded out the field.
Buczko cleared a height of 12 feet, 7 ½ inches (3.85m) in the pole vault, which was a new stadium record and an NCAA East Regional and ECAC qualifying mark. Rogers threw for a distance of 142-9 (43.53m) in the javelin, which made her an NCAA East Regional and ECAC qualifier. Mantush jumped a height of 5-7 (1.70m) in the high jump, which was a new stadium mark and qualified her for the ECAC Championships.
Senior Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) ran a time of 2 minutes, 9.70 seconds in the 800-meter run, which was good for second place and qualified her for the NCAA East Regional and ECAC Championships. Senior Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) placed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 172-0 (52.43m), which was an NCAA East Regional and ECAC qualifying mark.
Senior Catherine Trentacoste (Garden City, N.J./Garden City) finished third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.36, which qualified her for the ECAC Championships. She also finished second in 400 hurdles, crossing the line with a time of 1:03.41. Junior Amanda Mockbee (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) placed fourth in the discus with a distance of 143-7 (43.76) and made her an ECAC qualifier in that event.
Junior Erin Cranmer-Hart (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slipper Rock) posted a second-place showing in the in the 3,000 with a time of 10:17.87, while senior Jenny Stevens (Laceyville, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) broke the plane at 4:39.77, which was good for third place.
Senior Ann Doty (Punxsutawney, Pa./Puxsutawney) jumped for a distance of 38-3 ½ (11.67m) in the triple jump, which was good for third place, while senior Nina Reinhardt (Northport, N.Y./Northport) finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 17-6 ¾ (5.35m)
Bucknell will next compete in the Penn Relays, which is a three-day meet that runs April 26-28, in Philadelphia, Pa.
