
Bison Women's Track And Field Team Competes in First Day of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - On Thursday, the Bucknell women's track and field team participated in the first day of competition at the 2007 Penn Relays at Franklin Field on the campus of Penn. Senior Catherine Trentacoste (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) notched a fourth-place showing in her heat with a time of 1 minute, 2.48 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles, which was an ECAC Championship qualifying mark,while senior Beverly Rogers (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) finished fourth with a throw of 142 feet, 5 inches, (43.42m) in the javelin, which also qualified her for the ECAC Championships.
In the 4x400 relay, the team of senior Mariel Fink (Pennington, N.J./Hun School of Princeton), along with sophomores Jenny Dalzell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) and Megan Hathaway (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) and freshman Jennifer Pierce (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Heights) placed fifth in their heat with a time of 3:57.12.
Seniors Leanna Nastase (Beaverdale, Pa./Forest Hills) and Jenny Stevens (Laceyville, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) finished 13th and 19th with times of 9:58.24 and 9:59.79, respectively. Both times are ranked second and third all-time at Bucknell.
The squad of Trentacoste, senior Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) with juniors Offeibea Hanson-Hall (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) and Erin Cranmer-Hart (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) recorded a 13th-place finish in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:59.40, which ranks them fourth all-time.
Bucknell will compete in the second day of the Penn Relays on Friday, Apr. 27. The meet will begin at 9 a.m. with the college men's championship 400 hurdles.
