Hi all! I'm Erin Weinstein, and I'm a senior on the Bucknell women's lacrosse team and I'd like to share a little about our experiences this year so far. We played a six-week fall ball season ending with a tournament the last weekend in October. We won every game we played that day, which accurately shows how much we improved over our fall ball season, and the excitement with which we ended our fall has carried over into our spring season.
We are now halfway through our official preseason. Preseason is a period of time characterized by a combination of hard work, determination, and anxious anticipation. Although we are technically a "spring sport," we begin practice the first week of this second semester, and the weather as I'm sure you have all noticed, does not quite feel like spring.
We try to play outside as much as possible because we need to be in outdoor shape for our upcoming games, but when the weather does not permit it, we practice at 6 a.m. in the fieldhouse. Deciding day by day when/where we will be practicing calls for an usually large amount of flexibility and dedication and our team has stepped up impressively.
Be it inside or outside, the intensity during practice barely falters and it is obvious to us older members of the team that this is a group of girls who are finally on the same page about our desires and goals for the upcoming season. Our team this year has a depth we have not been blessed with in several years, which separates this year from my past experience as a member of the lacrosse team. It is hard to verbalize how proud I am to be a part of this particular team of girls, and how extremely excited I am for what I expect to be the most successful season this program has had in quite a few years.
Go Bison!
