Bucknell Men's Golf in Fifth Place at Cornell Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. - Bucknell's Charlie Waddell (Wilmette, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) totaled a one-over par 145 (74-71) in the first two rounds of play at the Cornell Invitational Saturday to stand in a tie for fourth place among individuals at the two-day event. As a team, the Bison stand fifth in the 15-team field at 23-over par with a two-round total of 599. Rider holds the team lead with a 10-over par 586.
Waddell's second-round 71 was the lowest for any of Bucknell's five players Saturday and helped him draw to within four shots of the lead. Hofstra's Alex Lowenthal tops the standings with a 141 (71-70).
Three Bison players are separated by just one stroke as Rahul Desai (Avon, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford School) shot 151 (75-76) to stand in a tie for 20th, while Keita Aoki (Tokyo, Japan/St. Mary's International School) (75-77) and Kyle Moran (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick School) (77-75) each carded a 152 to tie Lafayette's Pat Kelly for 25th in the 78-player field.
Chas Wagner (Oakmont, Pa./Hampton) stands 43rd in the individual results with a two-round total of 156 (80-76).
Bucknell, which is the top Patriot League team in the field, shot 301 in the first round and 298 in the second. Colgate, Lehigh and Lafayette, the other three Patriot League teams participating in the event, stand 11th, 12th and 13th overall. Each squad is more than 20 shots behind the Bison.
The final round of the Cornell Invitational will take place Sunday, Oct. 1. Bucknell, which is four strokes out of third place, will be aiming for its third top-three showing of the fall season.
