LITTLESTOWN, Pa. - Chilly, windy conditions at Quail Valley GC sent scores soaring in the first round of the Mount St. Mary's Fall Invitational Saturday, but Bucknell handled the elements better than the other seven teams in the field and took a first-round lead with score of 308, three shots clear of second-place Fordham.
Keita Aoki (Tokyo, Japan/St. Mary's International School) posted a 3-over-par 75 and has the individual lead by one stroke over teammate Charlie Waddell (Wilmette, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) and Long Island's Greg Nicolson.
The Bison also received a 78 from freshman Andrew Cohen (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck), a 79 from sophomore Stuart Lindgren (Richfield, Minn./Richfield) and an 81 from freshman Jeff Pike (Rye, N.Y./Rye).
Long Island and Saint Francis (Pa.) both shot 313 and are five behind Bucknell, followed by Mount St. Mary's (324), Monmouth (324), Robert Morris (328) and Duquesne (330).
Bucknell will try to bring home its second team title of the fall season on Sunday.
