PRINCETON, N.J. - Freshman Deirdre Moran (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) carded a 4-over-par 76 in just her second career round and Teri Schlang (Albany, N.Y./Stratton Mountain School) shot 77 to post her second career top-10 finish as the Bucknell women's golf team moved up three spots on Sunday to an eighth-place finish at the Princeton Invitational.
All five Bison improved their scores from round one to round two, leading to a team score of 316 that missed the school record by just a single stroke. Bucknell shot 315 last April at the Big South Championship.
Moran's 76 is tied for the fifth-best individual round in program history, and it was tied for the sixth-best score of the day in the 94-player field. Moran, who shot 86 in the opening round, finished in a tie for 29th place with a 162 total.
Schlang pieced together her second straight round in the 70s, backing up her opening-round 79 with a career-best 77 on Sunday. Her 156 total put her in a six-way tie for ninth place.
Also for Bucknell, Amy Loughney (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) shot 84-80 and finished in a tie for 36th, Emily Chiodo (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) improved from 89 to 83 and tied for 56th, while Kathryn Batchelor (Trenton, N.J./Princeton Day School) shot 91-87 and tied for 73rd.
Bucknell entered the day in 11th place but compiled the fifth-best team score in the 17-team field on Sunday and passed Rutgers, Dartmouth and Brown.
Host Princeton cruised to a 20-stroke victory over runner-up Yale, as medalist Sharla Cloutier finished with a 2-under 69. Cloutier shot 145 total, four shots better than Marlowe Boukis of Princeton and January Romero of Yale.
Next week the Bison travel to New Haven, Conn., for the Yale Invitational.
