HAMILTON, N.Y. - Bucknell posted a final-round 299, the best team score of the day by five shots, and moved up to a third-place finish at the Colgate Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at Seven Oaks G.C.
The Bison, who were in sixth place after a first-round 306, improved on that score by seven strokes as all five players in the lineup shot 78 or better. Defending Patriot League champion Charlie Waddell led the charge with a one-over-par 73. He tied for sixth place, six shots behind individual champion Dan McCarthy of LeMoyne.
Ryan Hom shot 73-78 and tied for 11th place.
Tom Lane shot a final-round 74 and tied for 16th, while Keita Aoki (77) and Ben Pellicani (75) tied for 27th.
After compiling a first-round 294, Lehigh shot 308 on Sunday and had to hold off Saint Francis (Pa.) (300-304) by two shots and the Bison by three for the team title. Bucknell won this event in 2004.
Cornell (608) and Colgate (613) rounded out the top five.
Bucknell hosts its annual invitational next weekend at Bucknell Golf Club.
