From Bucknell Women's Rowing Graduating Class of `05...
I couldn't have asked for the culmination of my rowing career to go any differently. Over the course of the two days spent at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa., we rowed four races and each race improved upon the last. Each time we accomplished something we didn't think was possible. After racing in the heats, we stayed up with West Virginia in the reps, beat Buffalo in the semifinals to make it to the petits, and then surprised everyone by taking second in our final race, finishing in front of Dayton. The season came full circle when we beat both Buffalo and Dayton, two crews that had destroyed us earlier in the season. It was a great way to end my rowing at Bucknell and I will never forget taking those last strokes on the Schuylkill River knowing that we surprised the rowing community in our final regatta.

The past few years have been full of incredible victories, amazing experiences and people, sleepless nights and frustrating days. It wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination, but that is what has made it worth it all the more. It has been just over a week since I took my last stroke as a Bison rower, and already I am seeing the unbelievable impact it has made in my life. I truly believe that I am better person because of it, and I feel like I have an advantage over everyone else entering the real world. Being a part of a team is one of the most rewarding experiences a person could have, and something everyone should cherish because it is over before you know it. The best advice I can give anyone is to stay strong and never give up - there will be those days when you don't know how you could possibly keep doing it, those practices where you don't think another piece is possible, and those moments where you want to rip Coach's megaphone from his hands, but in the end, you are really going to wonder how you are going to live without it. It was tough, but I am so grateful for the people and the experiences that helped me stick with it and made it the most rewarding part of my four years at Bucknell.

Every year the challenges of college get harder and more numerous, but by being on the rowing team each special woman is given something that most other students lack....we are given the chance to prove ourselves each and every day in an arena that would cower many of the strongest men. Crew is not a sport for the weak of heart.....it is a sport designed for titans and Bucknell's Women's Crew team is definitely made of TITANS. Thank you for the great memories everyone.
