Bison Track and Field Closes Out Day One of Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. - Dan Frake hit the IC4A standard in the hammer throw on Friday as Marjorie Grap and Liz Pendleton also had good hammer competitons, both throwing for ECAC qualifying marks, on day one of the Duke Invitational, in Durham, N.C. Erin Cranmer-Hart had a good day on the track, winning the development section of the 1,500-meter run.
Frake recorded a toss of 174-05, good for seventh place and a trip to the IC4A Championships in May. Grap, took eighth in the women's competition with a heave of 162-11. Pendleton wasn't far behind, pulling in tenth place with a personal-best mark of 160-07.
Cranmer-Hart bested the 1,500 field, clocking a time of 4:40.82. Jen Marsh represented the Bison in the seeded section of the event, running 4:35.27, good for 28th place. Bucknell had two ten top finishers in the men's 1,500 development section, with Mark Caroleo in sixth in 3:57.72 and Derrin Pierret in ninth in 3:59.03.
After Cranmer-Hart's first place showing, Monique Boley was the next highest finisher on the women's side, placing third in the 400-meters, clocking 57.15. Danielle Todman notched a fifth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 16.54.
The Bison men were tough in the 10,000-meters with Matt Forys, Kevin Fortkiewicz and Chris Nocera finishing in second, third and fourth places, respectively. Forys clocked a time of 31:15.69 followed by Fortkiewicz in 32:11.91. Nocera closed out the Bison pack finishing in 32:25.96.
Many more Bison athletes are set to compete as the action continues at Duke tomorrow morning, starting at 9 a.m. The last event of the meet is scheduled for 5:20 p.m.
