As much as I hate to admit it, I'm getting old. Staying up past 11 p.m. is near impossible, excessive noise and crowds drive me crazy, and relaxing on my porch is my idea of an awesome night. Twenty-one-years-old and I'm over the hill... it's kind of depressing. The past four years may have worn me out, but they have been an interesting and exciting experience, and they have given me plenty to look back on in my old age.
When I think about the past four years, it's amazing to see how the rowing program has grown. We've added coaches, boats, and even a wall to the boathouse. This past weekend really showed how far the program has come, as we competed in the first-ever Patriot League Championship for women's rowing.
The hard work of every coach and rower in years past contributed to our recognition as an official sport as well as our success this past weekend. While the conditions were rough and daunting, we carried ourselves well and applied the traditions of excellence, dedication, and unrelenting effort that have gotten our program to where it is today. Despite the wind and waves, every Bucknell boat that launched on Sunday went to the start to give everything it had and to represent the school proudly in the inaugural event.
Becoming an official Patriot League sport is the first of many milestones that this program will experience. I've seen how much can be accomplished in four short years, and I'm excited to watch the program continue to grow in amazing ways in the years after my collegiate rowing days are over.
