Bucknell Men's Golf Takes Sixth at Keenan Invitational

OLEAN, N.Y. - Sophomore Keita Aoki (Tokyo, Japan/St. Mary's International School) fired a career-best 1-over par 71 on Monday and Bucknell compiled its second straight 297 to finish sixth at the Leo Keenan Invitational, hosted by St. Bonaventure. Aoki shot 145 for the tournament and finished in a six-way tie for fourth place, the highest standing of his career.
The host Bonnies defeated Drexel in a playoff to win the team title. Both teams shot 575, breaking the tournament scoring record by seven strokes. Niagara finished third at 585, followed by Cornell and Binghamton at 588. The Bison were sixth at 594, three shots better than Rider and Robert Morris and four ahead of Youngstown State in the 15-team field.
Charlie Waddell (Wilmette, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) followed an opening-round 74 with a 75 on Monday, placing him a tie for 33rd place. Also for Bucknell, Kyle Moran (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick School) shot 74-76, Tom Lane (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) 76-75 and Chas Wagner (Oakmont, Pa./Hampton) 75-81.
Drexel's Keith Snyder was the only player in the field to finish under par (-1) for the tournament. His 36-hole total of 139 was three better than Binghamton's Aaron Ungvarsky and four clear of St. Bonaventure's Ben Howe. Rider's Tyler Brewington shot 68 on Monday, the lowest round of the tournament.
Bucknell returns to action next Sunday at the Lehigh Invitational.
