I wear blue spandex...
As the van from practice pulls into the upper LC for breakfast, we all peer out of the windows amazed at all of the well dressed Bucknellians walking to class. At this point it is 8AM. We have already been awake for three hours, had one practice and accomplished more than some do in an entire day.
After a quick trip to put on clean sweatpants, and grab some food, the Bucknell Crew team ventures in different directions to classes, library, or for a lucky few, a nap. After a full day, our group of motivated women arrives back at the fieldhouse for an afternoon of erging, lifting or other mode of practice. Pushing yourself to the max is a daily occurrence for a crew girl. Yet, after two practices we still can't seem to get enough of each other, so it's off to training room for an amazing hot tub session. After hanging out there until JB kicks us out, its time for food. Now, for some, a trip to the Caf or Bison takes all of about half an hour...MAX. However, for the crew team, "Caf Chill" is our social, fun time of the day. This "chill" usually takes about an hour or two. It allows us to feel "normal," to get things off our chest, but basically provides us with even more time with our team.
Most teams are friends, and hang out on occasion. The crew team is something special. We are not simply friends, or teammates. We see each other during the hard days, the pain, and the moments of happiness. We are not simply friends, we are a family. It may sound corny to some, or unreal, yet, I cannot think of a group of people that I can count on more than my crew girls. The experiences that I share with my team are by far the best that I have had here at Bucknell. All of the hard work and dedication that my teammates and I put in everyday is worth it when I see what we have accomplished as a team, and as friends. I cannot wait for the rest of the season!
