LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's women's lacrosse team will be heading to the Patriot League Tournament on a winning note, thanks in large part to two players who have come up big all season. Senior attack Meredith Wright (Bethesda, Md./Holton Arms) and sophomore goalie Lizzy McDaniel (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) both had strong games in Bucknell's 14-9 victory over Lehigh as well as a 13-11 non-league loss to Drexel last Wednesday, and both were honored with Patriot League weekly awards.
Wright notched two goals and five assists in the win over Lehigh and was named the league's offensive player of the week for the second time this season. Wright, who also had an 11-point night earlier in the year against Denver, leads Bucknell and ranks third in the Patriot League with 54 points on 31 goals and 24 assists.
The Bison faced an early 3-1 deficit against the Mountain Hawks until Wright had a hand in four straight goals, scoring once and assisting on three, and BU never again trailed. Against Drexel earlier in the week, the Bison trailed 12-9 late in the game until Wright scored twice in a row to bring BU with one goal. On the latter goal, Wright made a clean check on a Dragon middie in Bucknell's defensive end, then sprinted all the way to the crease for the key tally.
Wright moved into sixth place on the Patriot League's career assist chart with 56, while maintaining her second-place standing on Bucknell's career list. Her 23 assists this season are four shy of her own school record. Her 54 points this season are fourth-most in school history, eight shy of the BU record.

McDaniel, this week's Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, registered a career-high 20 saves against Drexel and nearly stole one for the Bison in a game where they were outshot 44-25. She also picked up nine saves in BU's PL win over Lehigh on Saturday. McDaniel had a .592 save percentage for the week and upped her season save percentage to .549, which ranks second in the league. She also ranks third in the conference in goals-against average at 9.73.
A first-year starter, McDaniel earned her first career Patriot League citation.
Bucknell will be the No. 3 seed at the Patriot League Tournament, which will be played this Saturday and Sunday at Colgate. The Bison will battle second-seeded American at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. That game will follow No. 1 Colgate and No. 4 Lafayette in the other semifinal, which starts at noon. The winners will play for the championship on Sunday at 1 p.m.
