Bucknell Women's Basketball Falls to Saint Francis (Pa.), 81-61

LORETTO, Pa. - Beth Swink scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Saint Francis (Pa.) to an 81-61 victory over Bucknell in women's basketball Friday evening at De Gol Arena.
The Bison (1-3), who turned the ball over a season-high tying 32 times, opened up the game with 11 points in the first three minutes to race out to an 11-5 lead, but Saint Francis (1-2) stormed back to take a 14-13 lead with 14 minutes to play in the half. Brooke Tomovich, who finished the contest with a team-high 17, tallied five points during that stretch for the Bison.
Bucknell's final lead of 13-12 came when Hope Foster connected on a layup with just over 15 minutes to play in the first half. The Red Flash then held the Bison to just one field goal over the next seven minutes of play as they began a 17-4 run to take a commanding 35-21 lead. Beth Swink scored four of her 24 points during that stretch.
Tomovich and Lindsey Hollobaugh each scored on a jumper in the final two minutes of the half to cut the halftime deficit to 37-27.
Hollobaugh, who tallied a season-low 11 points, connected on a free throw in the opening minute of the second half to cut the lead to nine at 37-28, but Bucknell would not draw within 10 points for the rest of the game. The Red Flash held their largest lead of the game of 25 points at 74-49 with 4:03 remaining in the game.
The Bucknell defense forced a season-high 27 turnovers as Hollobaugh, Kristina Collymore and Sarah Latham each recorded two steals.
For the third time this season the Bison shot better than 40 percent as they knocked down 25 of 57 (43.9 percent). The Red Flash made 32 of 67 (47.8 percent).
Hope Foster paced the Bucknell rebounding effort by grabbing a career-high 12 boards, with four coming on the offensive end. The Bison finished the game with 32 rebounds, while Saint Francis grabbed 41, including eight each by Swink and Regina Schlichter. Schlichter also tallied 11 points.
Bucknell continues its weekend road trip Sunday with a 2 p.m. game at Manhattan.
