NEW YORK (AP) - Jeff Otis threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Travis Chmelka with 21 seconds left to give Columbia a 19-16 victory over Bucknell on Saturday night.
Columbia (1-1) blew an early 12-0 lead, but rallied with the winning 73-yard drive. Otis was 8-for-10 for 69 yards on the drive, and Chmelka had five catches.
Reeling off 16 straight points, Bucknell (2-2) took a 16-12 lead behind the running of Antwan Kennedy before the Lions began their final drive with 3:27 remaining.
Kennedy's 12-yard run put the Bison ahead 13-12 in the third quarter and Ryan Korn hit his third field goal, a 25-yarder with 8:40 left in the fourth quarter.
Otis was 25-for-45 for 236 yards and two touchdowns.
Ayo Oluwole ran for 110 yards on 21 carries for the Lions.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Lions took a 12-0 lead on a 1-yard run by Oluwole and Otis's 31-yard scoring pass to tight end Wade Fletcher.
But both extra-point attempts were blocked and the Bison quickly cut the lead to 12-6 on Korn's field goals of 28 and 22 yards.
Rapheal Darrington led the Bison with 80 yards rushing in 13 carries.
Daris Wilson completed 10 passes in 14 attempts for 208 yards including a 62-yard completion to Albert Marquardt that set up Korn's second field goal.
It was the second straight week that Bucknell lost a close game to an Ivy League school. The Bison dropped a 21-19 decision last week at Cornell.
