Bison Women's Lacrosse Routs La Salle, 15-6

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The senior tandem of goalie Nicole Kallis and attack Suzanne Raffaele teamed up to lead a solid effort at both ends of the field as the Bucknell women's lacrosse team ran past LaSalle 15-6 in a nonleague game Wednesday at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
Kallis made 15 saves and Raffaele had four goals and an assist as Bucknell reached the .500 mark at 6-6 on the season. Kate Henwood logged two goals and an assist for LaSalle, which fell to 2-11.
Laura Nuss also scored four goals for the Bison, while Andrea Paraud added three and Merryl Geiss had a pair late in the contest. Meredith Wright, Bucknell's leading scorer, finished with a goal and two assists.
The Bison were nursing a 3-2 lead midway through the first half before exploding for five unanswered goals in a nine-minute span. Nuss scored three times during the surge, including the final two of the period to give Bucknell a commanding 8-2 halftime advantage.
Tracy Guenther opened the second-half scoring for the Explorers, but Nuss' fourth tally of the day ignited another four-goal run that gave the Bison a 12-3 edge with 19:17 to play. Bucknell led by as many as 10 goals on two occasions, the last at 15-5 on Geiss' second goal of the day with 5:01 left.
The victory was Bucknell's third straight at home, with the last two coming by a combined margin of 33-11.
Bucknell held a 36-27 shot advantage.
The Bison return to Patriot League play on Saturday afternoon against Villanova in their home finale. Game time is 1 p.m. at the West Fields.
