Bucknell Women's Indoor Tack & Field Hold the Lead At PL Championships

HAMILTON, N.Y. - With a leap of 37'10.75" in the triple jump, Dionne Bonds captures a gold for the Bison and assisted with the 24 points Bucknell earned on Saturday. The women's indoor track and field team holds the lead with 64 points, three points above second-place Lehigh.
Senior Theresa Dennis received the gold after clinching a time of 17:53.86 in the 5,000-meter, while Rachel Tutmaher placed fourth (18:15.48). Katherine Pfiefer (18:44.90) and Alison Cole (18:45.93) crossed the line for seventh and eight place finishes in the 5K.
Tolulope Fayanjuola grabbed a fifth place finish after leaping 5'3" in the high jump event. The sophomore marked 18'3" in the long jump for a third place finish. Angela McFarland threw the shot put 38'11" (8th), and Laura Schaffer reached 38'7" for 10th place.
After crossing the line at 8.43, both Jamie Lilien and Kiley MacDonald will advance to the 55-meter high hurdles on Sunday. Fayanjuola ran the 55-meter dash in 7.34 (2nd) in the preliminaries and will advance to the finals on Sunday. Erin Turner-Byfield earned a fourth place mark with a time of 7.45 behind Fayanjuola, and will also advance.
Five Bison runners will advance to the finals in the 200-meter dash. Rehana Lanewala (2nd, 25.96), Charity Brady (3rd, 25.99), Kiley MacDonald (4th, 26.17), Edwina Bourn (5th, 26.47), Fayanjuola (6th, 26.61) filled five of the eight slots in the 200-metere dash finals.
The three-day women's Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship will wrap up on tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 23.
