Bucknell Women's Indoor Track and Field Repeat As Patriot League Champions

HAMILTON, N.Y. - Bucknell women's indoor track and field team repeated as Patriot League indoor champions while collecting 180 points this weekend. The Bison earned 60 points more than second-place Army.
Following Army (120) was Navy with 114 points. Lehigh (90), American (48), Colgate (34), Lafayette (26) and Holy Cross (8) rounded out the Patriot League scoring for 2003.
On Sunday, Amy Calvo earned the gold (57.37) in the 400-meter run, while runner-up Charity Brady ran the 400 meters in 57.80. With a time of 2:16.47, Nicki Piper racked up a gold medal in the 800 meters.
In the 55-meter dash finals, Tolulope Fayanjuola received the silver medal after crossing the line at 7.39. Brady (25.78), Rehana Lanewala (25.89), Edwina Bourn (26.26) and Kiley MacDonald (26.32) placed second through fifth in the 200-meter dash. Brady improved her all-time top ten mark from seventh to fourth, while Bourn now stands ninth on the all-time charts.
Calvo ran the 500 meters in a time of 1:15.78 for second-place honors, while Monique Boley marked fifth (1:17.39). In the 1,000 meters, Jennifer Marsh captured second-place (2:58.54) and Piper followed with fourth (2.59.40). With a 5:12.68 mark, Theresa Dennis placed second in the mile run. She also captured a second place mark in the 3,000-meter with a time of 10:26.95, while Rachel Tutmaher followed for the bronze (10:27.17).
Crossing the line at 8.37, Kiley MacDonald earned second-place in the 55-high hurdles, while Jamie Lilien followed for a fifth-place finish (8.40). MacDonald now stands second on BU's all-time charts, and Lilien jumps to third. Bucknell's 4x400-meter relay squad placed second, behind Navy, with a time of 3:51.41. In the distance medley relay, the Bison placed fifth with a time of 12:38.88.
Head Coach Kevin Donner was garnered Women's Coach of the Year, for the second year in a row. The Bison women have been PL champions five out of the past six years. Bucknell will prepare for the upcoming ECAC Championships in Boston, Mass., March 8-9.
