LIGONIER, Pa. - Three Bucknell men's golfers finished within four shots of par in Monday's final round of the Champion Lakes Tournament, hosted by Duquesne, leading the Bison to a solid third-place team finish in a field of 10 squads. Bucknell's final-round team total of 300 tied for the second-lowest of the tournament, as the Orange and Blue moved up from sixth after 18 holes to third with a 36-hole composite of 610.
St. Bonaventure, led by a two-under-par 69 from medallist Jay Lindell, shot 297 in the final round and 604 overall to record a come-from-behind win. First-round leader Loyola finished three shots back at 607.
Alex Dolle paced Bucknell on Monday with a two-over 73, his best round of the season and a 10-stroke improvement over his first round. Dolle tied for 24th.
Junior Abbie Valentine and freshman Ben Pellicani both finished in a tie for 10th place with two-round scores of 152. Pellicani shot a personal-best 74 in the second round, while Valentine carded a 75.
Freshman Tom Lane lowered his personal best with a one-over 72 in the opening round and was co-leader in the clubhouse, but Lane followed it up with an 82 and settled for 15th place. Freshman Jordan Leiser debuted with Bucknell's "A" team and tied for 38th at 163 (85-78).
The Bison return to action this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5-6, at the ECAC Championship in Hiawatha Landing, N.Y.
